ReligionThis week in religion, we started talking about what we want to do for our lesson on St. Cecilia this month! We will be presenting our lesson to the school, so we have a lot of work to do. The kids came up with some great ideas, so I'm excited to see how it all turns out. ScienceThis week in science, we started a new unit for the 4th graders. We are moving away from life science and into physical science. We started by exploring some energy sources and created some simple circuits. The third graders also learned some very important information about photosynthesis. They'll be continuing to learn more about it in the coming week. | LanguageWe have been putting some special emphasis on Accelerated Reader this week. Last marking period, almost every student met the points goal, but unfortunately many students are scoring poorly on the quizzes. As a class, we're going to try to get a quiz average over 70%! I know we can do it! Social StudiesIn social studies, the third graders were tested on the geography of Michigan, then moved on to their study of Michigan History, my FAVORITE! The fourth graders are also working hard; they are researching the Midwest and creating brochures to share with the class. | MathThis week in math, we hit the multiplication facts hard! It is so important to know all of the times table facts without counting them out, so over the next couple of weeks, all the students will have to pass timed tests over each fact family. There are already 4 students who have mastered them all! |
Thank you to all of those who showed up for conferences this week. It is so nice to get to see everyone and get a feel for how they think the school year is going. It was a short week, so it wasn't the *most* productive, but we did get a few things accomplished.
