I’ve kind of changed how I’m going to be doing social studies for the 4th grade. I had originally planned to go through the regions first, then move on to economics and government. Now, however, I think I am going to spend the whole year on the regions and tie in the economics and government as we go along. I think it will help the students have a better understanding of the regions since we can spend more time on each one, and it will also give them more time to study the government and economics of each specific region. Even though we are spacing out the regions more than I had originally planned, we’ll still be doing the states and capitals tests. That way the students will already be familiar with the states and capitals of the specific region when we get there in class. That means the students will get their next set of states and capitals next Monday (11/17) for homework and they will be tested the following Monday (11/24). I think this makes a little more sense and will allow us to learn more deeply about each region, rather than skimming over each one like we would have been doing.

Several of our hockey players were shown on the news! Check it out! Thank you to all of those who showed up for conferences this week. It is so nice to get to see everyone and get a feel for how they think the school year is going. It was a short week, so it wasn't the *most* productive, but we did get a few things accomplished.
Christian WitnessALL A Honor RollB Honor RollThird GradeFourth GradeIt was another busy weekend in the Erickson household, so this week's wrap-up will be short and sweet. Hopefully you all had a great Halloween and have made it through the time change. Last week was a CRAZY week for the third and fourth graders - between preparing for mass, having guest speakers, Mystery Skyping, and Halloween, it is hard to believe anything actually got accomplished!
