3rd Grade
I am so excited to be teaching Michigan history this year! It is my favorite thing to teach and I am so glad that I will be able to spend more time with it this year! As we learn history, we will also be learning geography, map skills, and about the government and economy. We will be doing lots of projects in social studies and will post the pictures under the photos link or on the students' blogs.
We'll start each lesson with a high interest video/game/project. We'll then spend a few days doing stations, where the students will be researching, reading, writing, and exploring the lesson's topic. The students will post reflections/research/projects on their blogs, and then take a short essay assessment. I am really excited to try this out! I think that the students will love it and get a lot more out of our social studies lessons.
We will also be connecting with other classrooms around our state and country, and possibly even internationally through Skype. There is an online game that we take part in called "Mystery Skype". In the game, students from 2 different classes take turns asking yes/no questions to try to guess the location of the other class. It is a lot of fun and is a great way for the students to learn from students around the world. For more information about Mystery Skype, visit our Mystery Skype Page.
