This week, we were introduced to Buck Denver. It is a neat series of DVD's all about the Bible! We watched the episode about Genesis, which was so fun! Buck taught us all about Adam and Eve, Noah, and more! So fun! We also got to watch the 2nd graders teach us about our saint of the month, St. Francis de Sales! They did such a great job! | We've been working hard on our nonfiction reading skills since we've been back to school this year. We have been focusing on the text features that authors provide to make it easier to locate the information that we are looking for, such as titles, subtitles, bolded and italicized words, and captions. They've been doing such a great job using these features to help them understand their daily reading. SpellingWe are plugging along in spelling. The past few weeks, we have focused mainly on prefixes. Next week we'll shift our focus to suffixes. |

The fourth graders just wrapped up their study of the Midwest (FINALLY) with the conclusion of our study of the Plains States. With the holidays and snow days and interruptions, it seems like this unit really been dragged out. There will be a study guide going home on Monday and the test will be on February 2. After that, we will be moving on to the Eastern Region. Hooray!
