In reading class, we are continuing to work on meaning and are now examining how books are organized into genres. The students brainstormed booklists similar to a book that they were reading, in essence creating their own genres. I've also been plugging away at the DIBELs benchmark testing. It takes a lot longer than I remember, but I'm about halfway done with each grade, so I'm hoping to wrap that up this coming week. | We continued working on consonant blends in spelling this week The students practiced with their flash cards and on Spelling City. They are really doing a great job remembering all of my weird little routines! |

Math
The kids have also been doing a great job on First in Math! This is the first time that I can remember having a different player of the day for each day! I love seeing that the students are so enthusiastic !
Science
The fourth graders were also examining adaptations, but they were focusing on plants. Adaptations such as spikes, poison, and flowers help plants to survive in a lot of ways. One of the favorite activities for the 4th graders was the scavenger hunt, where they had to locate a variety of special plants using the iPads!
