Graymont
The first field trip will take place in April and support our study of rocks in science. We will be visiting on April 15. We will leave the school around 12:45. For this trip, we'll be taking the transit after lunch and return by the time the buses get to the school. This is one of my favorite field trips and the kids always love it. This is also a messy field trip, so be sure to send your child in waterproof boots and clothes that you don't mind getting dirty! Space is limited for parts of the tour, so I will only be able to bring two other chaperons. |
MackinaW City
Our "Big" field trip in third grade is to Mackinaw City! We will start our day at Colonial Michilimackinac, where the students will learn firsthand about colonial life in Michigan. There are cannon and rifle demonstrations, archaeological digs, and cooking demonstrations. There is always a lot going on and it is very fun to see. We will spend most of the morning there, then drive to Historic Mill Creek for the afternoon. The students will eat picnic lunches at the pavilion at Mill Creek, then take part in the formal tour, which will be followed by an Adventure Tour (including a zip line and high ropes course), and then have free time to explore Mill Creek. For the Adventure Tour, there are some special rules.
For this trip, we will be using parent drivers. It isn't economical to rent a bus for 15 students, so if you would be willing to drive, please let me know. This is a really fun field trip, and the parents usually have just as much fun as the kids! Parents will be responsible for their own meals and admission into the attractions. Admission for both attractions is $18 per adult and can be paid to the office. I will need to bring one check to pay when we attend. | Tentative ItineraryUPDATE: Date confirmed for May 20 7:30 - Depart from St. Francis with parent drivers 9:00 - Arrive at Colonial Michilimackinac 11:30 - Drive to Historic Mill Creek 11:40 - Lunch at Mill Creek 12:00 - Formal program at Mill Creek 1:00 - Adventure Tour 2:00 - Free time to explore 3:30 - Depart for Manistique 5:00 - Arrive at school |
